Our featured speaker for the March meeting is Don Cook, the Garmin GPS guy. Don knows so much about GPS systems that there’s always something new to learn when he’s here. He will gladly answer your questions, so come prepared with any questions you have about using GPS.
Don retired from 32 years of teaching Agricultural Education in Wisconsin in July of 2005. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls in 1970. He spent three years in Anchorage Alaska working for Pizza Hut for two years and one year in a partnership building cabins at a ski resort south of Anchorage.
He has attended workshops on GPS and GIS since 1995. He has used the GPS and GIS system in his classroom instruction. He has taught adults how to use Global Positioning Systems for personal use through Western Wisconsin Technical College and has worked with a company called GPS to GIS, teaching teachers how to use GPS and GIS in the classroom. Don has been presenting GPS workshops to computer clubs in the valley for the past six years. Don and his wife, Candace, spend their summers in Wisconsin and winters in Mesa.
Arrive before the 7 PM start time, and receive a ticket to the free door prize drawing at the end of the meeting.
See you on Tuesday, March first!
